PET FOOD RECALL

Jan found this information on a pet food recall and shared it with her friends, so we thought we would share it with our friends. (Please notice Hills' Science Diet is added today, Monday, March 19. See below.)

Percy, Secretary to the Funny Farm

This weekend Menu Foods issued a large-scale voluntary recall of wet food cat and dog products, sold under a variety of brand names. The recall only includes certain cuts and gravy style canned and foil pouch food manufactured between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007. Some are sold locally and many are sold within shopping distance of Upson County at Wal-mart, Ingles, Kroger’s, Safeway, PetSmart and other stores. Dry food is not included.

From the FDA press release, http://www.fda.gov/default.htm: Menu Foods, Inc. has identified the potentially contaminated products. Consumers who have any of these products should immediately stop feeding them to their pets. Dogs or cats who have consumed the suspect feed and show signs of kidney failure (such as loss of appetite, lethargy and vomiting) should consult with their veterinarian. Consumers who wish to report adverse actions or other problems can go to http://www.fda.gov/opacom/backgrounders/complain.html to contact the FDA complaint coordinator in their state.
