Buddy's Monday Report

Buddy here with our Monday report. It's cold. Brrrrr. And the cold seems to have affected Jan's brain. She got us all excited to run outside to pee/poop this morning and then she threw open the door to ... to this!
And she wondered why we stopped dead and ran the other way. Last night she tried to get us to run out there with ice raining down.  Is she serious?

Note from Jan: They refused to go out the back door in the storm last night too. But they went right from the back to the front door all excited for me to put on their leashes, and peed in the front yard while we all got pelted.  This happens when it rains, when it's sweltering, when it's freezing, when the wind is blowing, and when we have ice pelting from the sky.  I don't know whether they think the weather is different out front, they think I can protect them, or they just enjoy making me suffer with them.  As you  can see, they did eventually venture into the back yard this morning.

We would like to add that Jan tricked us outside today.  She went outside on the front porch to take this photo and we got all excited thinking she was coming back for us.  But she came in the front door and went to the back door - and we couldn't hold it any longer.  It was time to go.
This is nothing like the weather many of you are having but enough for us.The sunny south is covered in icicles today.  We're so fortunate we don't have to live outside on the end of a chain! We wish every dog and cat had a warm place in this weather but we know it isn't so.  :(

Jackie of  Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance asked us - and probably a lot of other pet bloggers - to post this important information.

Pet-Safe Asbestos Hazard Advisory
Asbestos fibers pose a significant health threat to both pets and their owners. Asbestos is found in thousands of homes and buildings built between 1930 and 1980. Asbestos was a commonly used building material that when damaged over time can become airborne resulting in the fatal mesothelioma cancer. Both direct and second hand exposure has been proven to cause mesothelioma. Please take proper steps to protect your pets and families. Consult a certified asbestos abatement consultant when executing any home renovations that may involve asbestos.

Our neighbors in Pike County, Georgia have no animal control and no shelter. Friends of Pike County Animals (FPCA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization (currently seeking 501 (c) 3 status) We hope you can spare a minute - daily until January 31 - to vote for FPCA for the Pepsi $50,000 grant.

You can vote for them at Create an animal adoption & education center in rural Pike County, GA.

And please pass this on and ask your friends to vote. We all know how important it is that any community's animals have an advocate. They are not a well-known organization with lots of followers so they will need your help to win.

  1. We have the opposite problem here . Since we finally got some measurable snow, we don't want to come in:) Woo Hoo - we love it.

  2. It does look cold there! Stay warm you guys!

  3. We understand why you guys would want to run the other way when you see snow on the ground! Lily loves to play in the snow, but sometimes Trixie just stops and stares at it. And both of them HATE going out in the rain! We've been voting for your friends' adoption center, by the way. We would give them all ten of our votes each day, but the site will only let us spend ONE vote on them per day!

  6. We don't blame you for not wanting to go out in the icky white stuff. We refused to go for walks until it had gone.

  7. Brrrrr! If we were used to it, we wouldn't want to go out either. In any case, we're lucky our litter boxes are indoor only. :-)

Tell Jan to stay safe and off the roads, if possible!

  8. We don't know why you all don't like going out in the snow/ice! It's fun to do zoomies in! Oh well, to each his own. It looks like a winter wonderland out there. We hope we get some snow/ice tonight like they said so we can go play in it tomorrow.

  11. Wow you sure got your Mom getting her to take you out in the front and getting her all wet too. Aha, but she got you back. It's cold enough here for snow but so far no snow. No rain either, but when it does rain it warms up, so we still wouldn't get any snow. I don't like getting my paws wet and cold.

  13. Hey farmers,
We went to the Pepsi site, registered and then voted for the shelter and then proved that we aren't robots.
Snow is really fun but we'd like it to be warm and sunny instaed of gray and FREEZING. Our ground is pretty much clear today but supposedly we'll be getting your snow tonight; thank you very much.
You sure got it right about not being on the end of a chain in the back yard all day. We're all so lucky.

  15. Do the humans seriously think we won't to go potty in the cold, wet etc So unfair cats get litter boxes inside. I am a good dog I ask to go out when I need to but I don't want to go out in bad weather. You would think she would at least fix the weather before opening the door. So I don't blame you for making Jan go out too. ~Fenris
